Local Info & Important Phone Numbers
Jensen Beach Florida is named after Dutch immigrant John Laurence Jensen who homesteaded the area in 1881 and began planting pineapples. By 1895, so many pineapples were grown in Jensen Beach that it was called the "Pineapple Capital of the World" shipping out a million boxes of the fruit a year.
Today, the pineapple has become a symbol of this charming village. The pineapple is also known as the symbol of hospitality and the friendly residents and relaxing sunshine have a magical way of making any visitor feel right at home. The area (which includes beautiful neighbor Hutchinson Island and its miles of unspoiled beaches) features spectacular boating, fishing, sailing, skiing, surfing and scuba (divers can explore shipwrecks and artificial reefs just offshore). With its major shopping centers, numerous specialty stores and unusual boutiques, Jensen Beach is also renowned as a retail shopping center of the Treasure Coast.
